Do you need a direct line to the Universe for help?
Who to call, what to ask, and how to prepare for one-time spiritual sessions
Sometimes we all need a little help, amirite? If you’ve read some of my other posts, you know that I’ve spent literally hundreds of dollars seeking out help from people in the spiritual community over the past couple of years. I’ve had multiple sessions with psychics, mediums, one psychic-medium, intuitives, shamans, tarot card readers, astrologers, human design readers, etc, and two of the most common questions I am asked are A) how do you know who to book a session with, and B) what do you do, if anything, to prepare? So, let’s get into it.
A Psychic, a medium, and a psychic-medium walk into a bar…
First of all, know what you’re looking for. All of these spiritual services serve you in very different ways. For instance, if your goal is to connect with a dead family member, a medium is the way to go. That one is fairly common knowledge since there are tons on TV nowadays. But what about working with psychics? Psychics, in my experience, have been able to tell me what’s floating around in my energy field. **An important thing to note when consulting with a psychic, however: don’t marry a timeline. Gifted psychics can see what you’ve got around you, energetically, right now based on what you’re calling in, but as far as the things they see coming true? Totally up to free-will and fate. It can actually create subconscious blocks to bank on something coming to fruition in the time frame they estimate. I’ve been there, literally in tears because I wasn’t financially able to quit my job by the time someone predicted. You have to trust that the Universe will bring you things in the timing that is best for you. And as far as psychic-mediums are concerned… I’ve only worked with one and, well, it was the best of both worlds.
If you’re looking for help with your career/“soul purpose”, because millennials are actually shifting the paradigm in regards to the marriage of career and soul purpose, I would suggest hitting up a psychic and/or an astrologer. I had a psychic tell me last year that I was going to be working with the subconscious mind and addictions before I even knew that PSYCH-K® existed! Lo and behold – here I am, doing it, even though I had zero idea what she was talking about at the time. Astrology is also great for career advice because, while it won’t specifically tell you what to do, it paints an excellent picture of your soul’s gifts and opportunities in this life. The 10th house, along with your MC line, of your natal chart is the house of career and public standing. So if you’re astro-savvy, go to astro.com, type in your birth information, and see what sign your 10th house is in and if there are any planets floating around there. Now, I will say that astrology is WAY more layered than that (I’m currently studying it), but it can give you a general feel for the energy of that area of your life. If you’re not about spending time researching houses, planets, and aspects – just book a session with an astrologer. It’s one of my favorite things that I’ve ever done, clearly. If you don’t know the exact time you were born, because it is wildly important, go the psychic route! You’re going to get great information either way.
Heal me, baby!
Psychics, mediums, astrologers, and human design readers are all great about providing insight and advice for your life based off your personal energy signatures and the soul karma you signed up for in this life. But what if you’re looking for more of a healing aspect? This one is a little tricky for me to answer, because healing is so intimate. I love, and have tried, multiple alternative healing modalities and eat mostly plant-based “to keep my vessel clean,” all in the name of health. However, I truly believe that we are in charge of our own healing, and while you can eat squeaky clean, and get a shamanic healing, reiki, EFT, the body code, or any other energy work, we can’t fully heal until the root of suffering is addressed. I have worked with a couple of Shaman in the past and had a healing performed on me. During the healing I felt the energy moving through me, I cried, I laughed, and for sure felt an overall sense of release at the end… but it didn’t radically change anything. That’s always been up to me. I mean, it was great for bringing my awareness to the things blocking my personal growth, but I was ultimately looking for a permanent solution. Subconsciously, my problems were still there, so I was going to keep calling them in. What the whole process taught me was this: while we may try and give our power away (which is ultimately what happens) in hopes that someone else can heal us - and it may feel great for a short period of time – we are still our own responsibility. And I’m here to say that you don’t need anyone else to heal you! You already have the power to, right now. I learned so much from working with Shaman Durek last year; things about myself, shadow work, and my power that I am deeply grateful for (did you know every negative thought you have is from a dark spirit trapped in your energy field that you called in?!) As far as long-lasting transformative healing is concerned… I may seek out further shamanic healings in the future, but for right now I’m taking responsibility for myself and sticking with PSYCH-K®.
PSYCH-K® and transformative health
I know it may sound biased because I am a facilitator, but PSYCH-K® didn’t find me until I had tried everything else. It’s been around for over 30 years, and it will find you - but only when you are ready for it! So, how does it help you? Well, everything with PSYCH-K® is at the subconscious level. We think with our conscious minds, receive messages from our superconscious minds (/the universe/higher-self), and the beliefs that influence our behaviors are held in our subconscious mind, which is 90(ish)% formed by the age of 7. The subconscious mind only operates in the present moment (time is a conscious mind thing) and it associates everything. This is why PTSD exists! Any trauma, and I mean ANY trauma, that your body has perceived as stressful is always right under the surface. This is why triggers happen. You attract things in your life based on your beliefs at the subconscious level – this is the law of attraction. What you believe, you attract. So, essentially, you will continue to call in things to trigger you, because your subconscious is giving you a heads up that this trauma isn’t dealt with and your subconscious is still living in it! Crazy, right? With PSYCH-K®, your body (via muscle testing) will give a “weak” or “strong” response to the things you consciously want to transform. If your system responds as “weak,” then you are still having a stress reaction from it and we can balance for that.
The subconscious mind is where true transformation and change takes place.
The “things” I refer to that are held in your subconscious mind are maybe not things you are conscious of (get it?!). Because the subconscious is almost fully formed by the age of 7, most of what we believe at that level is conditioning we experienced up to that point (traumatic experiences aside; those can imprint at any age). And, also because your superconscious mind (the universe/higher self/God) wants what is absolutely best for you, it will send you signs. These signs can appear as people/places/things that trigger you, or even physical symptoms/conditions. Your body is supremely intelligent; it uses whatever it can to help you cope with your stressors. Sometimes, these signs can manifest as uncomfortable symptoms - messages from your subconscious to show you what needs to change. And if you’re not sure, consciously, what the message is, then PSYCH-K® can help you uncover AND transform it. It’s quite frankly amazing.
Get ready to werk.
Preparing to work with someone in the spiritual community is always a good idea. After all, if you’re going to invest your money and time in something, you may as well get the most out of it! To prepare for a session with a psychic, I would suggest having specific questions ready versus getting a “cold read,” where they communicate everything that they see. Great leading questions to ask are, “What do you see happening for me in my career?” or if you’re totally unsure like I was, “I am lost about what to do with my (insert anything here), what do you see coming up for me?” Those will generally get the conversation started in the direction you want it to go. And remember, it is a conversation. The more you engage and ask questions, the more clarity you will hopefully receive. Same goes for Tarot card readings in regards to asking specific questions; although, getting a “general” spread is also really fun. On a different note, when working with a medium to connect with someone on the other side, a cold read is an excellent way to go, saving your questions until the messages have been delivered. I would also suggest picking a sign from whoever you want to hear from in the spirit world and ask them (out loud) prior to the session to make that sign known during your session. It’s just a great truth confirmation, in my experience.
Alternatively, before getting your astrology or human design chart read, it’s imperative that you have the EXACT time and place that you were born. In fact, most people require them when booking. Things in the sky can vary minute-by-minute, so accuracy here is key. As far as questions to prepare, I always go into these sessions without them as it is more of a cold read environment. But it’s always helpful to have a pen and paper handy to write down any questions that come up during the reading so you can ask for clarity at the end. If you are planning on working with a Shaman, I have heard that it is preferred for you to wear lighter colors, so your energy is more accessible, although it’s not a requirement and different shaman prefer different things. I would also go in with the intention to maintain an open mind to receive the healing that you are seeking. Although it may not be a cure-all for you, that doesn’t mean it won’t be worth it. Anything that heightens your awareness is beneficial, in my opinion.
Lastly, to prepare for a PSYCH-K® session, I actually send my clients an email beforehand with links to the videos on my site and ask them to consider 1-4 areas in their life that they want to transform. These can be about, quite literally, anything. PSYCH-K® is highly experiential, meaning you really have to be open and DO it to fully understand how it’s going to work for you. That being said, I have yet to facilitate for someone that it didn’t work for.
Sometimes navigating spiritual offerings can feel a little murky, so I hope to have shed some light if you’re considering reaching out to someone for guidance or clarity. As always, feel free to contact me if you still have questions about PSYCH-K®, or if you feel curious and ready for it, book here!
